Loretto Chapel Santa Fe Wedding Photography
A Historic Chapel For An Unforgettable Wedding
My experience photographing weddings at the beautiful Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe, New Mexico - is extensive.
This iconic chapel in the middle downtown Santa Fe, is a privately owned monument that has an amazing story, historic architecture and provides an amazing photographic backdrop.
An Experienced Photographer Is A Must At Loretto Chapel
I have photographed weddings at the Loretto Chapel over 50 times. To the untrained eye, it should be an easy shoot because of how beautiful and unique this amazing place is - but it is anything but easy. The Loretto Chapel is dark inside and therefore difficult to photograph. A flash is not an option because it disrupts the event but also because it’s light in this dark environment looks very unnatural. This is where experience and photographic knowledge come in very handy - and I have both.
Your exposures must be perfect, your experience will remind you of every angle needed to achieve meaningful images and the result will be a collection of classic photos that you will cherish forever. I absolutely love to photograph weddings at the Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe.

The Story Of The Famous Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe, New Mexico
Built in the 1870s, Loretto Chapel is one of Santa Fe’s most romantic and legendary landmarks. Inspired by Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, its dramatic Gothic architecture feels almost unexpected against the historic adobe character of the city. The chapel is best known for its “Miraculous Staircase,” which legend says was built by a mysterious carpenter after the Sisters of Loretto prayed for help reaching the choir loft. The carpenter vanished without payment or explanation, leaving behind a remarkable spiral staircase and a story that has endured for generations. Today, Loretto Chapel offers couples a wedding setting filled with history, beauty, mystery, and unmistakable Santa Fe character.
The Loretto Chapel is located smack in the middle of downtown Santa Fe. It is within walking distance of all the historic hotels, it is adjacent to the Inn At The Loretto (a gorgeous property), surrounded by galleries and restaurants and literally one block’s walk from the St. Francis Cathedral and the beautiful and colorful Santa Fe plaza. The Loretto Chapel’s location can’t get any better. And because of it’s proximity to everything, a photo tour after your ceremony is a must!
Where Is The Loretto Chapel Located?
Jen and Tony fell in love while she was in California and he was in Alabama - and they eloped to Santa Fe to be married at the Loretto Chapel. They are mature and fun and serious about their love. After their ceremony, we went all over Santa Fe to capture amazing photos of the two of them.
